You know you are in for a treat when King of the Cage occupies any venue for one of their live events. I would expect no less on March 19th when King of the Cage “Fight Game” rolls into the Embassy Suites Albuquerque Hotel & Spa. The fight card hasn’t been announced just yet outside of the Main and Co-Main Event bouts and already, the fight card is a must-see for the local fight fans.
One of New Mexico MMA’s most entertaining personalities “Timbo Slice” Tim Sosa will represent the New Mexico Wild Bunch of FIT NHB in the evening’s main event. The talented fighter was one of the area’s most accomplished amateur fighters before turning professional and will now face-off with a fighter who arguably possesses one of the best talent sets Sosa has ever seen standing across the cage.
Sosa’s opponent Jimmy “Brick” Flick will bring his talents from Sands Springs, Oklahoma for a compelling bout between two talented Flyweights despite the bout taking place at 130-pounds.
John RozemaAt 7-1, Flick attributes his lone loss to UFC veteran Will Campuzano and has won five of seven bouts via submission. While his record doesn’t indicate Flick is a knockout artist, his powerhouse style of fighting is suffocating and dominant.
One of the funnier fighters you will encounter, Sosa (4-3) has shown vast improvements in each outing as a professional. A well-rounded fighter with solid technical striking talents, Sosa will find the opportunity of a lifetime awaiting him inside the cage on March 19th as a win over Flick will propel Sosa up the ranks and cement his status as a top prospect climbing the proverbial ladder in New Mexico MMA.
The Co-Main Event features one of the most surprising announcements that I can recall in recent times. Former Featherweight (145-pounds) John “Rock’em Sock’em” Rozema will jump up two weight classes to compete as a Welterweight(170-pounds). Rozema has been one of the area’s most exciting fighters as he throws caution to the wind inside the cage looking for a highlight reel knockout. His fan-friendly style makes Rozema the type of fighter that fight fans should consider “must-see” due to his eccentric striking skills and pace that often leads to spectacular finishes. Even in defeat Rozema delivers come fight night.
Representing Judgement MMA, Rozema (3-2) has lost two of his last three but has revamped his career by putting on the mass required to change weight classes. His opponent Mario “The Assassin” Ramos from El Paso, Texas might be best remembered for being one of former KOTC Champion Tim Means’ challengers prior to his UFC signing.
While an opponent has yet-to-be announced, amateur standout Cynthia “Sin” Arceo (5-1) will look to continue on her impressive streak. Arceo is the current KOTC Amateur WMMA Champion of the 115-pound Strawweight Division.
Keep up with SWFight.com as we will keep you posted as more details of the event and fight card are released.
Per the press release, the event will be broadcast in over 50 million U.S. households on MAVTV (214 DIRECTV, 810 Verizon FiOS). Doors open at 6:00 pm. and fights start at 7:00 pm. Reserve seating and Ringside tickets are on sale now. For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit www.holdmyticket.com or call (505) 507-0309.
