Social Media Chatter Indicates Cody East Is UFC Bound

This past weekend, Cody East (12-1) scored a decisive TKO victory over Kevin Asplund (16-10) in what was a glorified feature bout for East. The bout was held in Minnesota under the Legacy FC banner of which East is the Heavyweight Champion. It has been rumored that the match-up was requested by Dana White, President of the UFC, so that he could see East in person at the live event. East has long been considered a top Heavyweight prospect and had been well-known as a fighter on the radar. White’s appearance at the show seemingly fast-tracked East’s ambition of making it to the sport’s biggest stage.

Representing Jackson-Wink MMA, East has been on an impressive tear as of late notching stoppage victories of impressive fashion these last few years. This last victory may have finally been the last impressive showing needed to get the stamp of approval from Dana White.

According to the Facebook page of Alistair Overeem, a teammate at Jackson-Wink, East is now a UFC fighter. “My boy Cody East made it to the UFC! Watch out for this guy! Another Boom coming! Follow him!”

Overeem wasn’t the only one proclaiming East got the call. Cody’s Mother, Dolly East went to Facebook to celebrate the good news as well.

From Dolly East’s Facebook page: “I am over excited to announce that my son Cody East made it it’s official this young handsome – athlete is now a Ufc fighter he signed the contract last night way to go cody the freight train east one down one to go no one deserves this more then (sic) you (sic) kept the dream alive now go reap what you soe so all my fb friends take a moment to congratulate cody for all the hard work”

While the post seems to indicate East has made it official, there hasn’t been any press release from the UFC or any confirmation from any of the major media outlets as of publish time. Regardless, we are excited for this news to be made official and East to join the ranks of the UFC.

Fight fans, who do you want to see “The Freight Train” fight in his first UFC bout?
