Jackson's MMA Series XVII

Local MMA is getting its start to 2016 a little late in the new year but as soon as February 13th rolls around, fight fans around the State will be more than satisfied with their first dosage of mixed martial arts action. Live at the Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino, the seventeenth installment of the Jackson’s MMA Series will feature one of the best local match-ups in recent years when two fighters on the fringe of transitioning from regional prospects to bona fide top-level prospects meet up for a Flyweight tilt that has the potential of altering the landscape of the local fight scene for the rest of 2016.

The Jackson’s MMA Series (JMMAS) has become a staple of local competition as the promotion only trails King of the Cage as the area’s longest running and most consistent promotion. Last year, the JMMAS made Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino their home, a venue that has seen its fair share of promotions and shows, as well as its share of high-level competitors and match-ups.

This upcoming event will feature the Flyweight clash between Jordan Espinosa (7-4) and Nick Urso (8-2). This match-up has been one of great anticipation since Espinosa started publically asking for the fight with Urso on social media after Urso defeated Espinosa’s teammate Josh Montoya during a JMMAS event last year.

SWFight.com will be going into greater detail to give our fans and followers a more detailed look on this exciting bout in the following weeks prior to the show.

In other action, a WMMA match-up is scheduled between Natalie Roy and Audrey Perkins and an exciting amateur pairing of Ricky Esquibel and Javier Cepeda. Also in action, fast-rising amateur prospect Jesse Tafoya, Slade Ring, Marquise Smith and Hunter Tower will also be featured on the amateur undercard.

[…] In February of 2016, Espinosa fought Jackson-Wink’s Nick Urso (10-5) in a highly-anticipated Flyweight grudge match. The fight had several weeks of lead-up that saw Espinosa take the promotion of the fight onto his shoulders as he traded social media jabs with Urso and really set for a hostile match-up between two fighters representing rival Albuquerque gyms. The fight received lots of local attention and really set the tone for what would arguably be one of the most important fight match-ups for the local scene for 2016. […]
