Bob Foster Funeral Services to Take Place This Week in Albuquerque

Bob Foster dead at the age of 77
Bob Foster claimed the WBC, WBA and RIng Magazine light heavyweight titles in his 17 year career.

Bob Foster 14-time world champion was part of inaugural 1990 International Boxing Hall of Fame class

Sunday morning’s Albuquerque Journal’s obituaries detailed funeral services for the late-boxing-great Bobby Wayne Foster.

Foster will lay in state on Tuesday December 1, 2015 from 11am-8pm at Strong Throne Funeral Home located at 1100 Coal Ave. SE in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Foster, the former 14-time light heavyweight boxing champion more commonly known as Bob Foster, died November 21, 2015 at the age of 76. The public is invitedto pay tribute by signing the family book and visit the former light heavyweight great and Bernalillo County sheriff.

The funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 11am at Gods House Church located at 2335 Wyoming NE, also in Albuquerque.

A native of Lubbock, Texas, Foster and his mother moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico when he was 5-years-old. He grew up in Albuquerque’s South Valley and attended Albuquerque High School. During that time he was introduced to boxing.

At the age of 17 he would eventually go on to box for the United States Air Force. Following his service in the military he would start his professional career in 1961.
