Fidel Maldonado Jr. vs. Amir Imam Opening Odds

Earlier today the first odds to this weekend’s Showtime opening televised bout featuring light welterweight prospects Fidel Maldonado Jr. and undefeated Amir Imam were released.

Two European Sportsbooks, Paddypower and BoyleSports, have the Duke City’s best boxer as a 4.5 to 1 and 5 to 1 underdog while Imam (15-0, 13KOs) is a 8 to 1 and 9 to 1 favorite, respectively.

Central American and Vegas Sportsbooks have yet to post their odds. The opening numbers from the Euro Books are surprising especially when you consider the last six opponents Imam has faced hold a combined 85-58-4 record and have nowhere near the power that Maldonado (19-2, 16KOs) has (Maldonado’s last six opponents hold a combined 102-26-7).

Amir Imam vs. Fidel Maldonado Jr. kicks off Saturday night’s Showtime triple-header at 8pmMT. The card is headlined by the highly anticipated Bermane Stiverne vs. Deontay Wilder WBC World Heavyweight championship fight
