Trout Camp: Haven’t Accepted Vanes Martirosyan Fight, Ishe Smith or Anthony Mundine Next

On Tuesday, light middleweight Vanes Martirosyan was a guest on the podcast The Ruckus where he stated that Las Cruces, New Mexico’s former WBA Super Welterweight champion Austin Trout has accepted a bout with him.

Vanes Martirosyan (pictured) defeated Austin Trout (not pictured) in Trout’s last fight as an amateur.

“This morning, I guess Austin Trout got to me he told me that he wants to fight me. We agreed to fight each other. We’re going to talk to our people and make the fight happen so that’s what we’re looking on now is me versus Trout. We got the news today so hopefully we’re going to put everything together and get it done,” Martirosyan (35-1-1, 21KOs) told the podcast.

Trout’s long-time trainer Louie Burke has told SWFight.com that Trout has been offered two opponents, former IBF Super Welterweight champion Ishe Smith (26-7, 12KOs), and former two-division world champion, current WBC Silver Super Welterweight champion and former Trout mandatory challenger, Anthony Mundine (47-6, 27KOS).

Both Martirosyan and Trout (28-2, 15KOs) are currently signed to boxing adviser Al Haymon who yesterday made the huge announcement that he and his team have come to an agreement with NBC to air his new boxing series, Premier Boxing Champions, on NBC and NBCSports .

Three stellar bouts were announced at yesterday’s press conference and it would not be surprising if Martirosyan vs. Trout were to ever be scheduled for the series in the near future.
