Pitbull Torres Set to Face Undefeated Harrison Nov. 2nd at Madison Square Garden Theater on Golovkin-Stevens Undercard

The best welterweight in the state of New Mexico Josh “Pitbull” Torres, has landed a November 2nd fight date at Madison Square Garden Theater where he will face undefeated Dusty Harrison on the Gennady Golovkin vs. Curtis Stevens WBA middleweight title undercard. Up for grabs will be the WBC Youth Welterweight World Championship.

The 19-year-old Harrison (17-0, 10KOs), birth name Arturo Hernández Harrison hails from Washington D.C. and is trained by his father Buddy Harrison. He is a tall lanky orthodox fighter with ability to fight in a southpaw stance and is very quick with combinations. He participated in over 200 amateur fights and won the National Golden Gloves in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

He is good friends with rapper Wale and is promoted by All In Entertainment a promotional company that was co-founded by entrepreneur Jeff Fried, the best poker player in the world Phil Ivey and Dallas Mavericks guard Monta Ellis.

Out of Harrison’s 17 professional opponents only three have had a winning record.

This fight will mark the third time that Torres (12-2-1, 5KOs) fights outside of the state of New Mexico but the first time he fights in the east coast. Torres, a former pupil of the late 5-time world champion Johnny Tapia is riding a career high five fight win streak.

Recently, Harrison tweeted a photo while watching fight footage of Torres‘ June 2012 fight against Raul Carrillo, where said, “Watching some tape on who my next opponent should be.” The news of the fight was not made official until yesterday.

As of right now the fight is not expected to make the televised portion of the HBO card.

The last native New Mexican to fight at the Madison Square Garden was Austin Trout then the WBA Super Welterweight champion where he won a lopsided decision against Miguel Cotto on December 1st.
