Jackson’s MMA Series XI: Ron White replaces Curtis Johnson to fight Nick Urso

There has been a shift on the Jackson’s MMA Series XI fight card and it comes with a little under three weeks until the August 10th event. One of the stand-out flyweights in the state, Jackson-Winklejohn’s Nick Urso (5-1) has had a few shuffles en route to finally announcing a new opponent after initial opponent Curtis Johnson was pulled from the card. Stepping in will be Lovato Total Fitness fighter Ron “The Great” White (5-6).

Jackson's MMA fighter Nick UrsoWhite has had a busy 2013 starting with his bout in April for the Triple-A-MMA promotion. He would then fight again several weeks ago in Colorado and will now be the most recent addition to the Jackson’s MMA Series fight card. The 125-pound hard hitting flyweight will step in on three weeks notice in a fight that arguably is one of the premier match ups being that Urso is considered by many to be one of the next fighters from New Mexico ready to take the next step in his career which would be exiting out of the regional scene.

Urso is a speedy, agile flyweight who has quick, precision striking and a very technical and explosive grappling acumen. Urso has the rare combination of solid offensive takedown abilities and a very active, effective guard. The combination makes Urso dangerous from both top and bottom positions. Added that he has a very crisp stand-up arsenal, Urso is one of the best-rounded fighters scheduled for the Jackson’s MMA Series event.

The two fighters will have completely opposite motivations heading into the bout considering that the pair find themselves looking at one another from opposite ends of the train tracks.

Looking to right the ship after consecutive losses, White will be hungrier then ever to really get his career back on the winning track. White’s left hand is a game changer and a knockout win will emphatically send White down a quick path of redemption and resurgence. White is one of the more “battle tested” fighters in the state, with well over 20 fights in his amateur and professional career he has stepped into the cage three times with XFC fighter and Chavez Dojo trained Joby Sanchez and Mean 1 MMA duo Felipe Chavez and Jordan Espinosa.

Mescalero Warrior Challenge - Urso vs. CastilloRiding a wave of success, Urso has won four straight and has been victorious in five of his six professional fights. Fighting in six different promotions during that span, Urso has captured wins in every promotion as a professional except the Jackson’s MMA Series. Urso will have a chance to redeem a split decision loss back in 2011 that remains to be his only career blemish.

Training with the highly successful Jackson-Winklejohn camp, Urso will undoubtedly be in great shape and equipped with elite level training. The host gym fighter has submitted two of his last three opponents and that definitely may be what fight fans should look out for as his opponent White has knockout power and prefers the top game when the fight hits the mat. Serving as a late replacement, White may be most dangerous in flurries and in the fact that he is backed into a corner being on a losing streak.

This fight should be an exciting one and fight fans should make sure not to leave their seats being that Urso and White are both fighters with talents geared for fan excitement. Make sure to clear your schedules out for August 10th to attend a fight card full of exciting local fighters featured on the Jackson’s MMA Series XI event.
