XFC 25 “Eggink vs Magana”: Promotions debut event in New Mexico set to include Sanchez, Chavez, Truex

Fight fans should be more then excited for the conclusion of summer to come our way. In 2013, we have seen the debut of Bellator in New Mexico and the creation of Triple-A-MMA and now the Xtreme Fighting Championships (XFC) is making its way to Albuquerque as their 25th installment of their successful fight series is set to go down on September 6th inside the Albuquerque Convention Center.

The rich and storied culture of New Mexico’s combat sports scene welcomes another solid and successful promotion and anticipates exciting fights and notable fighters. The event will be headlined by Florida’s Stephanie Eggink (3-1) facing off with Farmington’s Angela Magana (11-5) as they compete for the XFC Women’s Strawweight Title fight.

Eggink is a Gracie Tampa representative and will be making the trip down from Miami, Florida to fight for the promotions first ever women’s 115-pound title. She may be notable to New Mexico fight fans as she has a win over “Hurricane” Heather Clark from an XFC event this past December. Magana is a veteran of the WMMA scene, fighting since 2007.

Magana should be marked down as one of the most underrated fighters we host inside the state of New Mexico. Over the span of her six year, sixteen fight career Magana has racked up quite the record fighting with promotions such as HOOKnSHOOT, UWC and Tuff-N-Uff. She has quality victories over King of the Cage fighter Elsie Zwicker and top Bellator fighter Jessica Aguilar. She also competed with former Invicta FC Champion Jessica Penne.

There are also several New Mexico based fighters scheduled for the fight card as well as several un-announced preliminary fights expected to feature more local talent. The tandem of Joby Sanchez and Angelica Chavez will represent the Chavez Dojo on the main card of XFC 25.

XFC Open Tryout Winner Joby Sanchez Will Make Promotional Debut at XFC 20

Joby Sanchez

Joby Sanchez (4-0) will make his way down to the Flyweight division and will get a quality test at 125-pounds when he faces off with Joey Diehl (4-4). Sanchez is one of our states most athletic and promising, young prospects and will put his undefeated record on the line against a formidable opponent in Diehl. Coming out of the Team Curran camp in Illinois, Joey “Real” Diehl is another young and talented prospect who has a very fan friendly style of fighting.

“South Valley’s Own” Angelica Chavez (4-2) will look to bounce back from an Invicta FC loss when she faces off with Stephanie “Scrapper” Skinner (2-4). The two Atomweight fighters have loads on the line as Chavez is looking to write a two fight skid and Skinner is inching back to the winning end of her professional record.

Also expected for the undercard is Jackson MMA’s Tommy Truex (8-3). The 29-year old Lightweight has been out of active competition since early-2011 and his return to the cage is heavily anticipated. Truex has three wins in his last four outings and each came via submission or knockout.

Stay tuned to SWFight.com for more XFC 25 coverage, fight announcements and breakdowns. We encourage fight fans to visit www.officialxfc.com for more on the event and where this Albuquerque fight card will be televised.
