Bellator MMA is headed back to Rio Rancho, New Mexico!
Following the success of Bellator 91 which was held on February 28th, the high profile MMA promotion returns to Rio Rancho’s Santa Ana Star Center on July 31st for another installment of their popular events. The show is billed to feature another title fight as the first show was host to the Light-Heavyweight championship match. The top welterweight in the world outside of the UFC promotion, Ben Askren (11-0) is scheduled to take on top contender Andrey Koreshkov (13-0) in the main event.
This is the only confirmed fight thus far but fight fans can expect the Bellator show will stay with its current format of tournament fights and local fighters in action. Amongst the local fighters signed on to Bellator from the last event there are several we may possibly see once again.
Fighters scratched due to injury for Bellator 91 included Angelo Sanchez and Felipe Chavez. Chavez just recently competed for the Triple-A-MMA promotion that was billed to be for a Bellator contract. Judgement MMA’s Adrian Cruz and Joshua Montoya also competed on the first event. Also making their mark on that fight card, Jackson-Winklejohn fighters Holly Holm and Andres Quintana came out on top with impressive performances.
Stay tuned for more event coverage, fight announcements and match up breakdowns and for those fight fans that cannot wait for the second Bellator show to hit Rio Rancho, tickets are now available through the Santa Ana Center Box Office or ComcastTix.com.
