King of the Cage is back and it will be live in Albuquerque’s Sunshine Theater.
Fight fans have grown accustomed to an early year event from the popular promotion and for those who have been in heavy anticipation of the first King of the Cage event of 2013, the wait is over.
On June 22nd, the event titled “East vs. West” will come our way in an event hosted by Albuquerque’s Sunshine Theater. The promotion makes the move from its home of over two years over at the Buffalo Thunder Resort in Santa Fe to an hour south right inside the heart of Albuquerque’s downtown area.
Featured as the main event, Albuquerque trained Cody East (6-1) will take on Nick Rossborough (21-16) in a King of the Cage World Title fight for the Heavyweight Title. Cody East, little brother to Tyler East will get his first chance at MMA gold against the Champion who just defeated promotion veteran Tony Lopez. Also being featured that evening will be Tim Sosa (0-0 pro, 10-3 amateur), the promotions amateur 125-pound champion fighting Curtis Johnson (3-11) in what appears to be Sosa’s first professional bout.
A slew of Judgement MMA fighters are expected to be on the card as well including Josh Todd who is expected to be featured on the main card. Teammate John Rozema will look to build on a perfect amateur career that he started earlier this year. Rounding up the trio tagged on the event poster, Shannon Curlee is also expected to be on the amateur portion of the card.
Other notables expected to on the card are Jiu Jitsu and wrestling standout Jess Martinez, Santa Fe BJJ Academy’s Aaron Perls and Albuquerque BJJ’s Dorian Dixon.
