Cotto and Trout Weigh-In on the Scales in New York

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK– Earlier today a weigh-in for the WBA Super Welterweight card Showdown: Cotto vs. Trout, took a place at the Affina Hotel in Manhattan, New York, two blocks away from Madison Square Garden where the fights will be taking place Saturday night.

Hardcore Puerto Rican boxing fans and even a small contingent of New Mexican ones converged in the relative small ballroom which was filled to capacity with hundreds fans having to be turned down.

A loud boisterous crowd greeted Miguel Cotto as he entered the ballroom and weighed in under the super welterweight limit of 154.

As Austin Trout approached the scale scores of boos chorused in. A calm Trout, could be seen reading his weight as he stepped on the scales. Before his official weight could be announced to the predominantly pro-Cotto crowd, he quickly stepped off.

Emcee Jimmy Lennon Jr. got on the mic and told the crowd that Trout was over weight. That is was the building exploded with catcalls and whistles. A cunning smile came to Trout’s face and once removing his underwear he reached the 154 lb. weight limit.
