Trout Cotto MSG Dec 1

Manhattan, New York– Earlier today a weigh-in for the WBA Super Welterweight card Showdown: Cotto vs. Trout, took a place at the Affina Hotel in Manhattan, New York, two blocks away from Madison Square Garden where the fights will be taking place Saturday night.

Hardcore Puerto Rican boxing fans, a small contingent of New Mexican ones and boxing fans in general, converged in the relative small ballroom which was filled to capacity.

A pro-Miguel Cotto crowd went nuts as soon as his weight of 153.6 lbs was announced by the weigh-ins emcee and tomorrow nights ring announcer Jimmy Lennon Jr.. As Trout, took his turn to stand on the scale he immediately stepped off seeing that he was 0.1 lbs overweight.

The overage was not announced to the crowd but when Lennon Jr. mentioned that Trout was overweight and would remove his boxers the catcalling and whistles started. Trout gave the crowd a cunning smile and re-took the scale to weigh-in at the Super Welterweight limit of 154 lbs.

The main card will be televised on Showtime East at 9pm ET/ 7pm MT and will be tape delayed on Showtime West showing at 11pm ET/ 9PM MT.
