LAS CRUCES, NM.,- Boxing officially made its return to the Whole Enchilada Fiesta on Saturday. The card was presented by WBA Super Welterweight champion Austin Trout’s, No Doubt Entertainment and featured 13 fights for fans of amateur boxing.
In the performance of the evening Albuquerque’s Matthew Griego of Team Mirabal came off a 10-month layoff to outbox a very tough Edgar Ortiz. The craftiness displayed by Griego was very impressive for someone his age.
Accompanied to the ring by a large entourage which included Trout, 11-time amateur national champion Ayanna Vasquez, received a good challenge from Sherry Wetter in the night’s main event. The Las Crucen would have to use her great footwork to counter Wetter’s three-inch height advantage.
